When does a product idea fail?
Probably when the customers didn't receive it as per the expectation.

Volvo, when they introduced the "3 point seat belt" in their cars received a huge criticism that it is a terrible idea as it violates human rights. But we all know how it turned to be a life saving invention.
Seeing this, I was just wondering the criticism the product folks at Volvo must have faced at the initial stages when the idea was taken to different stakeholders. Some of them would have wanted to ditch it and probably the idea would have failed even before it had got a shape.
It is interesting to know how ideas like these have struggled their way to success and on the contrary it would be surprising to see how many like these were burnt to dust. Not necessarily that all ideas fail at user hands but most of them fail even before it is thought and shaped properly.
